Margaret Kisza is a first generation Polish Canadian visual artist and designer.
Her artistic journey dates back to 80's when she received her Masters of Fine Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Lodz, Poland. It is one of the most prestigious Polish universities specializing solely in visual arts, following principles of European modernism; the status of 'academy' has been granted only to institutions offering the highest level of artistic education.
Her academic adventure continued in the form of teaching in the Fashion Design Department as an assistant to the professor. Late 80's and early 90's was a remarkable time in the history of Poland - changing from socialism to democratic freedom. For Margaret it was a time to explore designing unique fashion collections simultaneously engaging theatrical performance and art objects installations. Margaret has been awarded for her avant-garde fashion 'happenings' and has been recognized nationally for her collections.
After moving to Canada in 1993, she successfully founded 'Studio 88', an interdisciplinary art atelier specializing in commissioned artistry and creative solutions for private and corporate projects, as well as custom collaborations with interior designers. Within 20 years 'Studio 88' has produced many works of art, offering solid artistic principle utilized in every project to meet customer objectives.
After 2010 Margaret started freelancing with innovate studio work and independent interior design projects. Eventually she got offers from house builders, residential developers as well as hospitality and restaurant industry to decorate showrooms, halls, lobbies and common areas. This period delivered large scale, vibrant collections of abstract compositions spontaneously executed with painterly brush-strokes, capturing interior atmosphere and energy saturated in each canvas.
Currently she is balancing her days with freelance, original artwork and interior assignments; focused on exploring the relationship between art and interior space through the design and painting - analyzing the principles of beauty of surrounding space within an eclectic and minimalist aesthetic.
